Helen Laing’s “Van Life” journey has brought her financial freedom and a unique lifestyle she adores. “I save £600 (US $759) a month by living in a van – I don’t miss my house,” Helen shares. She swapped her rented Devon house for a VW Crafter named ‘Manny’, enjoying lower expenses and complete flexibility. Traveling from the UK coast to Norway, Helen runs three businesses from her van, which boasts a shower, kitchen, solar panels, and a composting toilet. Despite challenges like mechanical issues and winter power shortages, Helen finds joy and resilience in her nomadic life, proving van living can be both fulfilling and financially smart.
